NEW YORK -- Saks says its first Saks Fifth Avenue store in Kazakhstan has opened.

The store that opened Sunday is three levels and 91,000 square feet, and it is located in a new shopping, commercial and residential complex in Almaty, the country's largest city.

Saks will not operate the store; it will be run by the VILED Group, the largest retailer of luxury jewelry and watches in Kazakhstan.

Saks operates 45 stores in the U.S. and licenses stores in Mexico City, Dubai and Manama, Bahrain in addition to Almaty.
