CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- The state Healthcare Authority has signed off on plans for the sale of a Charleston nursing home.
The Healthcare Authority has given a certificate of need to Chesterfield Co. Inc. for the $13 million purchase of Heartland of Charleston from HCR ManorCare, of Toledo, Ohio.
Chesterfield Company Inc. is the name under which Stonerise Healthcare said it would purchase the property.
The nursing home will be the fifth in state for Stonerise, which also owns nursing centers in Belmont, Lindside, Morgantown and Parkersburg.
Heartland's name will change to the Eastbrook Center, said Larry Pack, of Chesterfield Co.
"The internal management at the center will continue to be the same," Pack said. "We're very pleased to maintain the workforce; it's a very good team there."
He added that the company wants to improve the clinical capabilities at the center, improve service, grow the staff's expertise and take care of the community needs.
