ST. ALBANS, W.Va. -- The former Shoney's restaurant in St. Albans was demolished Monday. The restaurant had been closed for nearly a year.
Doug Skaff, co-proprietor of site owner Skaff Family Ltd., said he and his father have been in talks with several large restaurant chains that were interested in the space. According to Skaff, none of the restaurants that were approached, which include TGI Fridays, Perkins, Ruby Tuesday and Wendy's, were interested in the building, so it was torn down.
Skaff, a House of Delegates member from Kanawha County, expects to announce a restaurant for the space within the next month.
The demolition was executed by Rodney Loftis and Son Contracting.
