Mall fashion show

The Charleston Town Center Mall's back-to-school fashion show begins at 1 p.m. Saturday in Macy's Court. The first 50 students in the VIP seating area will receive free Silly Bandz. Students also can register to win a free Pantech Pursuit quick messaging phone from AT&T and a $100 mall gift card. Picture People will take free 8x10 photos of students. Call 304-345-9525.

Free 'Honey in the Rock'

See the final 2010 Theatre West Virginia performance of "Honey in the Rock" for free at 8:15 p.m. Sunday. To get free tickets, you must be a West Virginia resident and bring a food item or school supply for Raleigh County's Helping Hands Community Resource Center. Reservations are recommended. Light Opera Guild auditions

The Charleston Light Opera Guild will hold auditions for "Dreamgirls" this week at the Guild Theatre, 411 Tennessee Ave. Singing and reading auditions are at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday; an accompanist and script are provided, but you must bring sheet music for the accompanist. Dance auditions are at 7:30 p.m. Aug. 26; combinations will be taught.

There are lead roles for four women and four men. There are additional roles for up to 29 people (some are nonspeaking parts) and an ensemble. Direction and choreography is by Nina Denton Pasinetti, musical direction by John Marshall and accompaniment by Leah Lewis.

"Dreamgirls" is the story of a 1960s girl group that becomes a music sensation. The original musical won six Tony Awards. The 2006 movie adaptation won a Golden Globe and two Oscars.
