Casting call I
Sunshine Films will hold an open casting call for speaking roles in its film, "Moving Mountains," from 4 to 10 p.m. Thursday at West Virginia State University's Davis Fine Arts Theater.
Some acting experience is required. Bring a current photo and acting resume.
Roles are available for the following: men and women ages 30-60; one boy age 8-12 and one age 18-22; one girl age 8-12, one age 15-21 and one age 18-22 (who must be a blonde, but not platinum blonde).

Open casting calls in Weirton for the Paramount Pictures film, "Wickham," will be held Friday and Saturday. The film is about teens growing up in a 1979 steel town and dealing with the aftermath of a train wreck that brings the town together.
The calls are for people of all types, ages 6 and up, to serve as extras. Acting experience is helpful but not necessary. People with any athletic, military or martial arts training are encouraged to apply.
Friday's session is at Jimmy Carrey Stadium on West Street. You can begin lining up at 6:30 p.m., and the call begins at 7:30 p.m. Saturday is from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Millsop Community Center on Main Street. You only need to attend one session, and those who have already applied should not come.
Filming will be Monday through Friday from mid-September to late October. Shoots usually will be for one or a few days at a time. You must be available for at least 12 hours a day (less for minors) during the length of the filming. If you cannot be available for 12 hours, do not apply.
Those chosen will be paid for their work.
Also, the film is looking for pre-1990 vehicles. If you have one you'd like to be considered, send an e-mail with a photo of your vehicle to ParamountPic...@gmail.com. Owners will be paid for vehicle use.

'Charleston: Then & Now' lecture
The West Virginia Archives and History Library of the West Virginia Division of Culture and History will hold the free lecture "Charleston: Then & Now" from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Culture Center library.
The lecture, by West Virginia State University history department chairman Billy Joe Peyton, will focus on Charleston and how the city changed after it permanently became the state capital in the 1880s. Peyton will show views of past and present Charleston.

Appalachian Blues Competition registration
The West Virginia Blues Society is accepting applications for its fourth annual Appalachian Blues Competition. Divisions are bands, solo/duo and youth. Registration deadline is Sept. 15.
Slots are available for 18 acts. Those chosen will be notified at a later date.
The winner will receive $500 and sponsorship to attend the International Blues Challenge in Memphis in February. The runner-up will receive $200.
The competition will be held Oct. 2 at Tomahawks Smokehouse & Saloon in Jefferson.
