St. Albans Historical Books Available

The St. Albans Historical Society has reprinted its 300-page "St. Albans History" book, full of vintage photos, family histories and histories of the local businesses, schools and churches. The book sells for $60.

The society also has reprinted other books about local St. Albans history. They are: "Early History of St.Albans," "Coalsmouth Journal-Selected Articles 1972-74," "A Historical Sketch of St. Albans WV -- 1938," "St. Albans Historic and Architectural Survey," "Bicentennial of the Burning of Fort Tackett," "The Growing, Booming Years of St. Albans, WV," "The Last Dollar" (1909) , "Coalsmouth Journal -- 1982," "Tribute to Jennie Hughes" and "Tornado Remembers," all for $5 each.

Also available are "Cemeteries of St. Albans" ($25) and "Upper Kanawha Valley Cemeteries" ($30).

All of these books are available at the Curiosity Shop on Main Street and at McGees Office Supply on Kanawha Terrace.

West Virginia-based novel

"Sidewalk in the Sky," written under the pen name Vada Jain, concerns cousins growing up in West Virginia in the 1960s. Mariah sees a vision, so the other cousin thinks she belongs in a mental institution.
