Be on the lookout for FestivALL flash mobs

CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- During FestivALL, several flash mobs will roam the streets of downtown Charleston and serenade unsuspecting folks with song and dance antics. Some of the groups you might encounter are:

  • Dance mobs, where a group will appear suddenly, put on a brief routine and then disperse. Between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. Saturday, Sunday and June 23-24.
  • Barbershop mobs, comprised of "guerilla harmonists" from West Virginia, Ohio and Kentucky, will serenade passers-by. Between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. Wednesday through June 24.
  • Concert mobs from the West Virginia Music Hall of Fame will pop up on a mobile stage for brief performances from 11:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. They are: Blue Monday, on Monday at the Capitol Complex; The Carpenter Ants, Tuesday, at Five Corners (West Side), John Lilly and The Earl of Elkview, Wednesday at Slack Plaza; Dugan Carter & Full Flavor, June 21 at the corner of Washington and Ruffner streets (East End); and the Bob Thompson Trio, June 22, at the Bridge Road shops.
