Point Pleasant Sternwheel Regatta starts Thursday

CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- The Point Pleasant Sternwheel Regatta brings a host of free activities to the city's streets and waterfront Thursday through Saturday.

Thursday's highlight is an 8 p.m. concert by Kip Moore, whose hit song "Somethin'  'Bout a Truck" has been riding high on the Billboard Country Charts. Striking Matches opens the show at 7 p.m.

On Friday, The Devonshires conjure the music of the '60s and '70s in a show starting at 8:30 p.m., with The Wooly Bushmen opening at 7 p.m.

Starting at 6 p.m. Saturday, the Texaco Country Showdown contest comes to the main stage. Closing out the event is Point Pleasant native Chase Likens, an "American Idol" Top 24 contestant this season, who takes the main stage 8:30 p.m.

Other events include an 11 a.m. Saturday parade, followed by a car show and fireworks following the Likens show. For a full schedule, visit www.pointpleasantregatta.org.
