Nitro antique car show and Boom Town Day is this weekend

CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- The Nitro 51st Antique Car Show and Boom Town Day events begins today and runs through Sunday.

Car registration begins at noon Thursday at the Mardi Gras Casino. The Crimson Conspiracy II concert is scheduled for 6 p.m., also at Mardi Gras Casino.

Friday's events include breakfast and registration beginning at 8 a.m. at Golden Corral in Cross Lanes. An Early Cars Tour and Later Model Car Tour will be featured. A Mountaineer Hillbilly Hill Climb begins at 3 p.m. on the Mardi Gras parking lot. A downtown Nitro Cruise-in will be featured at 3 p.m. at 21st Street in Nitro. The Exiles concert begins at 7 pm. at the 21st Street main stage area.

Saturday events begin with registration at 8 a.m. at 20th Street and 24 Street in Nitro. A kids' coloring contest will be featured from 8 to 11 a.m. at the 21st Street and W.Va. 25 large food tent. The car show will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 21st Street and W.Va. 25. The Hit 'n' Miss Engine Show will be held at Somewhere In Times on 21st Street. A Kids' Fun Zone with inflatables, balloons and fire safety house will be featured from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. A corn hole tournament is scheduled for noon at 21st Street and Second Avenue. An auto swap meet and pedal car display/vintage bicycle display will also be available.

Saturday's parade begins at noon from Pickens Road to 19th Street. A Teen Hangout with DJ will be held from 3 to 6 pm. at City Park on Park Avenue. An Italian Festival will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. at First Baptist Church, Second Avenue and 22dn Street. A Take-A-Part "T" Event is scheduled for 4 p.m. and Race Cars "Cackle Fest" event starts at 4:30 p.m. Awards will be presented at 5 p.m. at the 21st Street stage area. Phil Dirt and The Dozers Concert will be held at 7 p.m. The grand fireworks display will begin at 10 p.m. at City Park on Park Avenue. Door prizes, vendor giveaways, food and craft vendors and more will be featured throughout the day.
