CYAC opens 'The Stock Car Musical!'

CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- At 8 p.m. Thursday, the Contemporary Youth Arts Company opens its latest original Dan Kehde/Mark Scarpelli production at the Capitol Center Theater, 123 Summers St. "The Legend of Ginger and Billy Joe: The Stock Car Musical!" is a tongue-in-cheek NASCAR love story starring Maddie Gourevitch as Ginger and Travis Stephens as Billy Joe.

They're backed by a 25-member supporting cast and the six-piece Blue Bottom Whiskey 500 band (Scarpelli, Donnie Smith, Rick Justice, Ray Singleton, Jolene Wise and Rusty Marks), which will perform country rock tunes like "Scooter, I Love You" and "Where the Highways Touch the Skies."

Other performances are 8 p.m. Friday, Saturday and Oct. 4-6 and 2 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are $10 for adults and $6 for students and seniors. Call 304-342-6522.
