Social action plays
Three shows remain in the Contemporary Youth Arts Company week of social-action plays. They are "The Girls Room," dealing with date rape, at 7 p.m. Thursday; "Gone Tomorrow," about HIV, at 8 p.m. Thursday and "A Service for Jeremy Wong," chronicling the aftermath of a gay student's murder, at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

'Buckwild' viewing party
The Cellar, 8 Capitol St., will host a free "Buckwild" viewing and discussion at 10 p.m. every Thursday for the remaining five weeks of the show's run. On hand will be several Sissonville residents who know some cast members and have their own views on how their town and townsfolk are being represented on national TV. Professional actress and performance coach Pamela Chabora will host workshops on comedy and vocal acting techniques at the Alban Arts Center on Saturday. The comedy session runs from 9 to 10:30 a.m. and teaches everything from physical comedy to the comedy of menace. The vocal acting session runs from 10:30 a.m. to noon and teaches basic techniques for vocal characterization that are healthy and voice building.

Broadway in Charleston addition
