Music and animation on latest 'Radio Free Charleston'

By Staff reports

CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- "Radio Free Charleston" offers up a music-rich episode this week at the PopCult Blog with music videos from Byzantine and Radiohead, plus a performance from the Third Eye Cabaret.

First up is Byzantine, in a music video for its song, "Soul Eraser," directed by Matt Maloney and shot in West Virginia. The song is on the band's self-titled reunion album, due out Feb. 23.

Charleston's Wayward Girls School of Burlesque stars in animated form in a video for Radiohead's "Nude," remixed by Frank Panucci. The episode also includes "Big Head," animation from Andrew Benjamin of North Carolina's Hellblinki (sometimes known as The Hellblinki Sextet).

The episode wraps up with a visit to a cool new fixture on the Charleston music scene: the Third Eye Cabaret. Held from 7 to 10 p.m. Thursdays at The Cellar on Capitol Street, it's a multimedia cabaret for the 21st century, with music, video, spoken word and more. Playing under the end credits of this week's "RFC" are Albert Perrone and Douglas Imbrogno -- two-thirds of The BrothersSisters -- with Perrone's song, "Twenty Thousand Days."
