Schaul talks on work
CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Charleston artist Ellie Schaul will give a lunchtime lecture at noon May 1 at The Art Store, on Bridge Road.
Schaul has a solo exhibition, "New Works," at The Art Store through May 10. She will speak about her latest body of work, featuring an exploration of interiors infused with evidence of human presence and hints of the domestic. These paintings come from her memory and display a personal side of the artist.
Summer dance classes
CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- The Charleston Ballet's school, the American Academy Ballet, will hold a four-week Summer Dance Intensive June 3-27 at the ballet's studio at 100 Capitol St.
Dance and exercise classes will be offered for all levels and ages: creative movement for 4- and 5-year-olds, adult beginning ballet, Pilates, Zumba, character, modern, Irish and ballet classes for 6-year-olds through professional levels.
Guest and staff instructors include Radenko Pavlovich, artistic director of Columbia Classical Ballet; Olivier Wecxsteen, a former Boston Ballet principal dancer; Miguel Campaneria, choreographer; Kim Pauley, Charleston Ballet artistic director; Rob Royce, modern dancer; Carli Marenek, a Lewisburg choreographer; Chantel McCormick, Irish instructor; and Angela Price, Pilates teacher.
