KCPL W.Va. Day programs

Singer, storyteller and multi-instrumentalist Mick Souter will perform his "Celebrate West Virginia" program Thursday at the St. Albans Public Library, 602 4th St., at noon and the Cross Lanes Public Library, 5449 Big Tyler Road, at 6:30 p.m.

Storyteller Susanna "Granny Sue" Holstein and musician Jeff Seager bring West Virginia legends and lore to life in a program from 6 to 7 p.m. at the Clendenin Public Library, 1 Cardinal St.

W.Va. Coal Festival concerts

The 20th annual West Virginia Coal Festival runs through Saturday in downtown Madison. Each night features a free concert.

At 9:30 p.m. Thursday, it's country duo The Bellamy Brothers. On Friday, tribute band Beatlemania Magic will perform at 8 and 9 p.m. On Saturday, country joker Cledus T. Judd goes on at 8 p.m. and KISS tribute band Dressed to Kill at 9:30 p.m. Fireworks follow that show at 11 p.m.

Goo Goo Dolls and Matchbox Twenty tickets

Vinyl collector's show

The free West Virginia Vinyl and CD Collectors Show runs 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at Holiday Inn-Charleston West, 400 Second Ave., South Charleston. Vendors from across the Southeast will have vintage LPs and 45s plus CDs, DVDs, memorabilia and more.

Dulcimer workshop

Award-winning dulcimer players Hunter Walker and Sarah Morgan will host a series of workshops Saturday at Blessed Sacrament Church, 305 E St., South Charleston.

Walker's workshops are "The Art of Arranging" for intermediate and advanced players from 10 to 11:30 a.m. and "Jam Survival 101" for all skill levels from 1 to 2:30 p.m.

Morgan's are "Building Firm Foundations" for beginners and novices from 10 to 11:30 a.m. and "Dulcimer Hymn Ensemble" for intermediate and advanced players from 1 to 2:30 p.m.

An open jam runs 2:45 to 3:15 p.m., and Walker and Morgan will give a free hour-long concert at 7 p.m.

'Wind in the Willows' auditions

The Alban Arts Center, 65 Olde Main St., St. Albans, will hold auditions for "Wind in the Willows" at 1 p.m. Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday. Performances are Aug. 23-25 and Aug. 30-Sept. 1.

A large cast is needed with principal roles for ages 12 and up and supporting roles for ages 6 and up. Those auditioning are encouraged to bring a prepared monologue, but scripts will be available.
