Book signing

CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Aila Accad will make a presentation and sign copies of her book "The Call of the Soul -- A Path To Knowing Your True Self and Your Life's Purpose" from noon to 2 p.m. June 30 at Taylor Books.

According to a news release, Accad, a registered nurse, "provides a brand-new perspective on the thing we call the authentic self. In an elemental way, Accad defines the soul which unfolds as the blueprint of life. The soul gives meaning to life. It is the center of our values, inner strength, will, basis of comparison and vision for the future."

Free camping e-book

CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Amber Elmore, of Sissonville, is celebrating the release of her newest book, "Betsy Beansprout Camping Guide." Because the book is also part of ShadeTree Publishing's Summer Reading Celebration, the Ashland, Ky., company is offering the e-book version for free all over the world through June 30. The free e-books will be available via Amazon, and although the e-book is available in Kindle format, it can be read on Apple and other types of electronic devices by downloading the free Kindle application.

The Betsy Beansprout book series teaches kids how to have fun outdoors. "Betsy Beansprout Camping Guide," the third book in the series, shows kids how to have fun and be safe while camping. Each book is written from the perspective of a 6-year-old girl who lives in a state park and, therefore, considers herself a nature expert.
