Serving up The Recipe on the levee

By Staff reports

CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- The Morgantown-based band The Recipe has come and gone and come again, but the description of its music on its ReverbNation page is forever apt: "rock/hippie hoedown/festy." Hear the group as it headline Friday's edition of Live on the Levee at Haddad Riverfront Park, performing sets at 7:45 and 8:45 p.m.

Opening the free concert at 6:30 p.m. will be Beckley's The Boatmen, whose preferred self-designation ranges from rock-grass to new-grass to "Americana Soulgrass."

After the show, both groups perform again at The Boulevard Tavern, 806 Kanawha Blvd. E., starting at 10 p.m. Cover for that show is $5.
