CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- The sextet Comparsa is a multicultural festival in the form of a single group. The acoustic world beat ensemble, powered by guitar, flute, brass, bass and percussion, rhythmically explores the melodies of cultures from Latin America to the Caribbean, Africa to Spain.
Hear them in a special Third Eye Cabaret showcase at the Charleston Cellar, 8 Capitol St., starting at 8:30 p.m. Thursday with opening act The BrotherSisters. As Comparsa tends to get people's feet moving with their grooving, pointers in Latin dance music steps precede their show. Admission is $5 at the door, including a free snack bar.
