CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Spike Jonze's latest film, "Her," opened in limited release Dec. 18 to qualify for awards season. Now it opens to the rest of us on Friday (locally at Park Place Stadium Cinemas and Marquee Cinemas).
The critically-acclaimed romantic dramedy, also written by Jonze, stars Joaquin Phonenix as a lonely writer who falls in love with his computer's highly advanced operating system (voiced by Scarlett Johansson). The cast also includes Amy Adams, Rooney Mara and Olivia Wilde.
Currently, the film has 50 different award nominations, including three for Sunday's Golden Globes, as well as 37 wins, including AFI's Movie of the Year and the National Board of Review's Best Film of 2013. "Her," which is scored by indie rockers Arcade Fire, is rated R for language, sexual content and brief graphic nudity.
