CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Charleston's annual Rough N' Rowdy Brawl was originally set for last weekend at the Civic Center but was postponed due to the State of Emergency caused by the water crisis. Now, fighters will take to the ring this Friday and Saturday for the single-elimination boxing competition.
Fighters in eight weight divisions (four each for men and women) will compete in bouts consisting of three one-minute rounds; all contestants will fight Friday, and then the winners will return Saturday. The ultimate champion in each weight division receives $1,000, a championship jacket and a trophy, while the runner-up gets $250 and a trophy. The action begins at 7:30 p.m. both nights.
Advance tickets are $16, $22 or $27 for adults and $5 for children; at the door, they're $2 more. Tickets for last weekend are still good for the corresponding day this week.
