Contra dance rescheduled
Last weekend's FOOTMAD contra dance, canceled due to the water crisis, has been rescheduled for 7:30 to 11 p.m. Saturday at the Columbia Gas Auditorium, 1700 MacCorkle Ave. S.E. It features Frank Buschelman of Cincinnati calling to the music of The Ripples, also from Cincinnati.
Learn the basics of contra dancing at 7:30, then the dance starts in earnest at 8 p.m. No partner is required, and the dress code is casual. Shoes do need to be soft-soled, though.
Admission is $5. Call 304-415-3668 or visit www.footmad.org.
Opera Guild seeking past cast
In February, the Charleston Light Opera Guild will present a revival production of "Godspell," celebrating 40 years of its young adult summer theater program. Currently, it is trying to locate cast members from the 1974 "Godspell" production by the Washington Community Education Center at George Washington High School and the 1975 CLOG production at the old Jefferson Street workshop.
The performances, held at the guild's West Side theater, are 7:30 p.m. Feb. 7-8 and 14-15 and 2 p.m. Feb. 9 and 16. Tickets are $15 for all shows except opening night, which features a tribute to Kathy Mattea (a member of the cast 40 years ago) as well as a reception with her and other previous cast members. That show is $50.
