Valentine's Story Hour
CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- The first of several book-centric events at Taylor Books this month is a Valentine's Story Hour. Scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Feb. 8, the read-aloud event will feature Valentine's Day-themed children's stories, complimentary treats and a simple and fun Valentine's Day art/craft project.
CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- "A Sinner in Paradise" author Deborah Hining will read an excerpt from her book and sign copies for the public from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Feb. 9 at Taylor Books.
Set in West Virginia in 1977, the novel is described as "a heartwarming, uproarious affair with love in all its forms." When the book's main character, Geneva, is jilted by her fiancé -- and watches her seemingly idyllic life suddenly fall apart -- she packs up her nine (yes, nine) cats and returns to West Virginia, where she grew up, planning to rest and heal from her heartbreak. Alas, things are rarely that simple.
The sequel to "Sinner" is currently underway and scheduled for release in 2015.
CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Former Rockefeller administration official Miles Dean will read selections from his two collections of poetry, "Furrows on Parchment" and "Musings After Midnight," at 5:30 p.m. Feb. 13 in the Annex Gallery, adjacent to Taylor Books, with refreshments to follow.
