Times’ obit volume includes prominent West Virginians
Advertiser

NEW YORK -- OK, this book obviously doesn't contain obituaries for 2012, so it's unclear why that title was picked. "The Obits: Annual 2012" is a compilation of New York Times obituaries from 2010 and 2011.

Among the people included is the late Frank Buckles of Charles Town, the last person to have served in War World I. He died Feb. 27, 2011, at the age of 110.

Judy Bonds, who crusaded against mountaintop-removal mining, and bluegrass singer-songwriter Hazel Dickens are also among the featured obits. Bonds died at age 58 of lung cancer on Jan. 3, 2011. Dickens, 75, died April 27.

The 590-page book is $13.95, published by Workman Publishing. Visit www.workman.com.
