'Poetry Aloud' at MSU

BECKLEY, W.Va. -- Regional writer and former faculty member Ben Campbell returns to Mountain State University this week to headline the third annual "Poetry Aloud" reading sponsored by MSU's Appalachian Visions series.

The event will also feature the work of student writers affiliated with MSU's literary magazine, "Mountain Whispers," and its creative writing organization, the Scribblers Society. The reading begins at 7 p.m. Friday at the John W. Eye Conference Center on MSU's Beckley campus.

There is no charge for the public event.

Campbell's collection of stories, "A Welcome Walk Into the Dark," was published last September by Outskirts Press. A graduate of Marshall University, Campbell received a master of fine arts degree from Bowling Green State University. He teaches at New River Community College in Dublin, Va.

Copies of "A Welcome Walk Into the Dark" will be available for purchase and signing following the reading.
