Hickam to appear at Kanawha library reading club event

CHARLESTON, W.Va. --The two-day Kanawha County Public Library's summer reading club kickoff will take place Friday and Saturday.

West Virginia author Homer Hickam will speak at 7 p.m. today at the Civic Center Little Theater about his new book "Crater." Hickam will autograph books after the event, but no more than two books per person.

"Journey to Tomorrow," an interactive traveling exhibit from NASA will also be part of the kickoff. On Saturday between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., among other things, a rocket launch will be held for kids between the ages of 6 and 12.
