Writer releases diving tale

CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- The "Wreck of the Huron" is the latest dive adventure novel from author Eric Douglas. The story begins on the coast of North Carolina and ends up on the Isle of Pines, Cuba, as photojournalist Mike Scott and his friends attempt to solve the mystery of the sinking of the USS Huron.

When the USS Huron went down off the coast of North Carolina in 1877, she took most of her crew with her and a mystery about why they were headed to Cuba. Her sinking, and another one a few months later, prompted Congress to provide year-round funding for the U.S. Lifesaving Service.
