Over the summer, the Lewisburg resort, The Greenbrier got a great deal of attention for its PGA golf tournament, The Greenbrier Classic. There were many TV reports, newspaper articles, and chats on Facebook and Twitter about it.

Yet The Greenbrier has much more to offer than just golf.

When you first pull up to the front doors, you'll see the smiling faces of the employees who will take your bags and show you inside. The first things that you will notice when you walk in are a gigantic crystal chandelier and the soft, elegant green carpet.

Once you are all settled into your cozy room, you should take a walk around. You'll find a variety of little shops, a small movie theater, bowling alleys, restaurants, a calming spa, a beautifully tiled pool and the nationally famous bunker, which you can tour.

(For those who don't know, the bunker is where the United States Senate and House of Representatives would stay in times of national emergency during the Eisenhower Era.)

The shops are all set up in a quaint hallway. It almost feels like you are walking the streets of downtown Charleston. The stores vary from Yarid's Shoe Shop to a specialty kitchen store. If you are into tennis, The Greenbrier has an entire shop dedicated to tennis apparel and equipment.

Inside the kitchen store, there is a Starbucks Café, and down the hall, there is a candy store that sells homemade chocolate of every sort. Teens will love browsing over all the Greenbrier items in the gift shops.  They have it all -- t-shirts, visors, golf balls, robes, dog bowls and golf shirts.
