CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Every year, more than 1.3 million students drop out of high school, but what about those who get up early every morning and persist in their education? That's what PBS News Extra wants to know.
Its "Why I Go to School" board on the social media website Pinterest encourages students to think about the deeper reasons they want an education, such as personal goals, family history and activities and teachers that inspire them. To participate, students can submit an image and a paragraph explaining their reason to newshoure...@gmail.com. They should include their first name, age and grade.
The project is part of PBS NewsHour Extra and American Graduate: Let's Make It Happen, a national public media initiative to help communities across America address the high school dropout crisis.
