They may be outnumbered, but these guys love show choir anyway

Show choir is a chorus that sings while dancing. When it comes to show choir, many people talk about the beautiful dresses the girls wear and their hair and makeup, but they never mention the guys.

However, guys are assets to the typical show choir because without them, there would be no bass or tenor singers and no one to partner with the girls. Plus, it would look kind of weird to audiences after what they're used to seeing.

Marquis Moore is an eighth grader at Horace Man and a member of the Eagle Pride show choir. He says show choir is like a sport.

"You have to sign up for it and have practices after school and stuff," he said.

Also like a sport, it's a group effort, and in it, both genders are needed to make the show run. "We need more guy voices," he admitted.

He added that he really likes the songs in the choir's program this year because they are fun and upbeat.

Another male member of Eagle Pride is seventh grader Elijah Swain. He said he really likes to sing, but with so few guys in the choir, it's hard for him and the others to sing as loudly as the girls.

"We really need the guys in show choir," he said.

He doesn't see himself stopping singing any time soon. "I would like to have music continued in my life because I love to make sounds."

Another seventh grade Eagle Pride member is Josh Johnson, who said he's always liked to sing. He also loves to dance.

"I like anything that has to do with singing," he said.

Just because girls outnumber boys in the choir, Johnson said he won't let them overpower him. "I think boys can stay with each other and be powerful."
