CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- It's time once again for most high school kids to decide if they are too old to trick-or-treat. The answer is "No, you are not too old; you'll never be too old," but if you are one of the lame percentage that does decide to stop, then you are probably trying to think of something to do on Halloween. Right?

Well, the best suggestion is to watch some classic horror films. What better day to watch the scariest, creepiest and craziest movies ever created? Here are the top five to make sure are on your list"

1. "The Exorcist" (1973)

Obviously. You really can't get more classic than this. This movie is legendary!

"The Exorcist" is the classic possession movie, the film that gave birth to a new genre of horror and therefore, thousands of movies. It revolves around a little girl named Regan (Linda Blair), who is possessed by a very foul-mouthed demon who claims to be Satan. Two priests try an exorcism, and, well, it gets very interesting. Regan will have you on the edge of your sit for the duration of the movie.

2. "Psycho" (1960)

My personal favorite on this list, this is one of Alfred Hitchcock's most well known movies, and if you decide to watch it, you'll understand why. The shower scene in this horror classic is still considered one of the most terrifying scenes in motion picture history. It might scare you so much that, in the words of Rockwell (in his 1984 hit "Somebody's Watching Me"), "When I'm in the shower, I'm afraid to wash my hair/cause I might open my eyes, and find someone standing there."

3. "A Nightmare on Elm Street" (1984)

This movie will play with your head more than anything you've experienced before. Before the bad remake that came out in 2010, Freddy -- the movie's villain -- was considered one of the most twisted monsters unleashed into the public since Michael in "Halloween" (which I will get to in a moment). Once you finish this movie, if you are not already crying, wait until you try and go to sleep.

4. "Halloween" (1978)

Michael, with his long kitchen knife and altered, white, Captain Kirk mask, will do exactly what director John Carpenter wanted him to do in this movie -- scare the living daylights out of the audience. Michael goes off and butchers horny teenagers whilst looking for his long-lost sister (Jamie Lee Curtis). Trust me when I tell you this: if you find yourself in a horror movie situation, the virgin always lives. Plain and simple. It is the most important rule in any horror movie. 

5. "Night of the Living Dead" (1968)

This movie tells the story of a group of people trapped in a farmhouse as zombies, brought back to life from the radiation of a fallen satellite, try to eat them. Much like "The Exorcist," this movie gave birth to a new genre: the zombie one. Movies like "Zombieland" and "Shaun of the Dead" as well as the show "The Walking Dead" never would have come to be if this movie had not hit the big screen. It has stood the test of time, especially with the shocking surprise ending -- which you'll have to learn all about by watching this classic.

So grab some popcorn and Halloween candy, gather your friends, sit back and enjoy the show. You won't regret it.
