CYAC annual holiday production now underway

CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- The Contemporary Youth Arts Company's 16th annual production of the holiday rock opera, "MARY," is now underway at the Capitol Center Theater, 123 Summers St. The musical by Dan Kehde and Mark Scarpelli tells the Nativity story through the young mother's eyes.

This year, two casts will perform the show, which also includes a 15-piece orchestra and 25-member chorus. The principal cast will perform all the evening shows and the Sunday matinee. The secondary cast will perform the Saturday matinees.

In the principal cast, Rowan Maher plays the title role and Jonathan Tucker is Joseph. They're joined by Maddy Gourevitch as the Archangel Gabriel, Susanna Tucker as Elizabeth, Austin Lowe as Zechariah and Nik Tidquist as Herod.

The younger secondary cast features Katie Shaver and Daniel Calwell as Mary and Joseph, with Susanna Morris as Gabriel, Lauren Mallory as Elizabeth, Michael Tighe as Zechariah and Austin Susman as Herod.

Performances are 8 p.m. today, 2 and 8 p.m. Saturday, 2 p.m. Sunday, 8 p.m. Nov. 29-30 and 2 and 8 p.m. Dec. 1. Tickets are $10 for adults and $6 for students and seniors. Call 304-342-6522.
