CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Colton Pack, who was a finalist on this season's "X-Factor" as part of country trio Restless Road, will perform a free mini concert and sign autographs in Charleston Town Center's center court beginning at 1 p.m. Saturday. The first 50 fans will receive a photo for him to sign.
Also, keep your ears open for a special announcement to be made at the event, which is being co-hosted by Electric 102.7 FM.
Pack auditioned for "The X Factor" as a solo artist in Long Island. During the next round, he and two other solo singers -- Andrew Scholz and Zach Beeken -- were grouped by judge Simon Cowell into the "country man band" Restless Road, which finished fourth in the competition.
The guys vowed to continue their career and met with producers in Nashville in January. However, on Sunday, Pack posted a note to his Twitter account that he has parted ways with the band to pursue a solo career.
It read in part, "This was a very difficult decision to make. I feel as if I have done not only what is best for me, but for the guys as well. ... Prior to X Factor I was a solo artist. In my heart of hearts I have found it difficult to stray from what I feel is my true calling, a solo artist. We all have a specific path in life, and this is the path I truly feel I must walk."
(Scholz and Beeken have said they will continue with Restless Road, though it is unclear if they will become a duo or add a new third member.)
In an interview in our February magazine, Pack told FlipSide reporter Nick Lawrence that he began singing when he was 3 years old and started singing country music in ninth grade. In 2011, he won Charleston Town Center's "Charleston's Teen Idol" competition, which included a trip to Nashville to record a demo and consult with a producer.
Currently, he is working on new songs, and he told his fans he hopes to have an EP out in the near future.
