CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Miley Cyrus is a familiar face in the media. She was the star of Disney Channel's hit show "Hannah Montana" for several years and has had many hit songs in her music career. Recently, she has been causing controversy with her new image and behavior as she promotes her latest album, "Bangerz," which was released in early October.
This album is geared toward older teens and hip-hop and rap lovers. It's unlike anything she has ever done.
Assisting the new hip-hop singer on the album are several very popular rap artists, including Nelly, Big Sean and Future. Miley even got training and producing help from will.i.am and Pharrell Willams.
Her first single from the album, "We Can't Stop," was her first musical release in a few years, so everyone was all ears. It was the most listened to song on the charts for a few weeks, and every teen could be found jamming to it after school.
Then the video for it was released. It was so controversial that jaws across the world hit the floor. The pop star had crossed so far beyond the line of what was expected that a new line had to be drawn just for her!
Her next single was "Wrecking Ball," and the video was 10 times more revealing, controversial and crazier than anything anyone has ever seen from the former Hannah Montana. Miley took her song title literally and was seen in the video sitting naked on top of a giant wrecking ball crashing into walls built around her. Although a lot of people only could see her naked on a wrecking ball, I saw the passion and the meaning behind it.
"Wrecking Ball" is about Miley's former fiancée, Liam Hemsworth, and how he took her heart and smashed it because she started to change and be the real her. Only people who are true to themselves can understand the wrecking ball theme and how she felt naked because he took everything away.
"Wrecking Ball" isn't the only deep song on "Bangerz." "Adore You" and "Something Else" are, too. "My Darlin,'" with rapper Future, is a heart-wrenching track with an interesting twist on a love song.
Miley also has some great ragers on the album for her true fans or diehard "twerk music" fans. One of the greatest tracks is a song featuring Britney Spears called "SMS (Bangerz)." Another great dance track and funky beat is "4X4," featuring Nelly; this song is a mixture of two polar opposite genres: hip-hop and country.
Miley's album is full of diverse and deliciously beautiful music to dance, sing, party and twerk to. I'd recommend it for teens age 15 and up.If you are looking for something to dance to or to relate to, Miley Cyrus has it on her "Bangerz" album. And next year, look for her to go on tour for the album.
