Opera Guild auditions
The Charleston Light Opera Guild will hold auditions for its June production of the Tony-winning rock musical "Next to Normal" at 7:30 p.m. Thursday and 11 a.m. Saturday at its theater, 411 Tennessee Ave.
Auditioners should have a musical selection prepared with sheet music for the accompanist. Scripts for readings will be provided.
The production, about a family coping with mental illness, has roles available for two women and four men. All should be strong singers.

Unity of Kanawha Valley, 804 Myrtle Road, will host an eco-bead party beginning at 1 p.m. Saturday.

Yale Whiffenpoofs concert
The Whiffenpoofs of Yale University, America's oldest collegiate a cappella group, will give a free concert at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Clay Center.
The group, which features Charleston native Mitchel Kawash, will be joined by the Appalachian Children's Chorus.
Youth talent competition
The Omega Psi Phi Fraternity of West Virginia State University will hold a youth talent competition in the school's student union beginning at 3 p.m. Sunday.
The free event features local high school students in four categories: music (vocal and instrumental, classical, semi-classical, gospel and jazz), interpretive dance (ballet, modern and tap), speech (poetry, orations and monologues) and visual art (sculptures, photography, etc.).
