His grandfather still lives in Nepal, and Baidya has visited several times. Many of his photos were taken in Nepal and in Thailand. He's found subjects closer to home, too -- a doorknob in his West Side house, the East End Yard Sale, on trips to Washington, D.C., and to Ohio University.
He uses a simple Canon DSL Rebel digital camera, and he's happy with the results.
On a trip to Nepal to visit his grandfather, he photographed children playing during the Hindu "Holi," or festival of colors.
"People run around throwing bright-colored powder on each other. The neighborhood kids were throwing bags of colored water at each other, and I remember leaning over and just snapping the shots," he said. "There's always an energy in the air in Nepal, and the colors are so brilliant."
