Sutton art show

SUTTON -- A Spring Arts and Crafts Show will be from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. May 5-6 in downtown Sutton.

"The courthouse lawn and 4th Street will be filled with the work of local artisans, entertainers and food," said Gwen Hagaman, president of Poplar Forest Co-Op Gallery. "Everyone is excited to kick-off the 2012 season with a fun outdoor event."

The event is presented by Poplar Forest Co-Op Gallery, Town Square Cafe, Controled Excentrics and the Elk Theatre. Artists and street entertainers are invited to participate with no sales commissions.

Co-Op members get booth spaces for free, with a $25 refundable cleanup deposit. Non-member artists are welcome to participate with a $35 booth fee. Co-Op memberships are available for $48 a year. Artists joining at the event receive a free booth.

The town of Sutton is holding a citywide yard sale the same weekend.

"People who come to see us will have a lot to do and see. And I'm sure they will find something they can't live without," said Mayor J. L. Campbell.
