CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Quilts and wall hangings from around West Virginia adorn the Culture Center Great Hall as part of the annual exhibition from the state Division of Culture and History.

The exhibition, which will remain up until Sept. 3, serves as part of the Vandalia Gathering.

Awards from the juried exhibition were announced Friday evening. Jerry Adkins of Hurricane won best of show and first place in the pieced category.

Other category winners include Susan Amos of Hurricane, mixed/other; Evelyn Miller of Charleston, appliqué; and Mary Parsons of Charleston, wall hanging.
