Wilma Angotti, $99,810 to repair the windows and roof of the Big Four Drugstore Building, Hinton.
Summers County Commission, $80,000 to repair damaged bricks and repoint deteriorated mortar at the Summers County Courthouse, Hinton.
The State Historic Preservation Office of the West Virginia Division of Culture and History administers the development grant program.
The Archives and History Commission made the final grant determinations. Funding for the grants program comes from the appropriation of funds from the state Legislature.

Culture Center lectures
CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- "They're from Here? Artists from the Mountain State" will be the topic of discussion for a lecture at 6 p.m. Aug. 7 in the Archives and History Library at the Culture Center. Jeff Pierson, director of arts for the Division of Culture and History, will deliver the free talk. The public is invited.
Pierson will provide a multimedia presentation that will take a broad look at the history of significant artists from West Virginia. Participants will take a journey with Pierson as he explores more than 30 artists and their work, including Blanche Lazzell and Landau Eugene Murphy Jr.
A native of Charleston, Pierson graduated from Columbus College of Art and Design, in Columbus, Ohio. His illustrations have been featured in books and magazines, and recently he has painted three public murals in Charleston.
Joe Geiger will present "Archives and History Online Resources" at 6 p.m. Aug. 9 in the Archives and History Library at the Culture Center. The program is free and open to the public.
Geiger will present an overview of what is available on the West Virginia Archives and History website, www.wvculture.org/history, that can be useful to researchers, both genealogists and historians.
Geiger has worked for Archives and History since 1998, serving as historian, webmaster and assistant and acting director before being named director in 2009. He holds a bachelor's degree in business administration and a master's degree in history from Marshall University. For the past 15 years, Geiger has taught West Virginia History as an adjunct professor at Marshall. He is the author of several articles and two books, "Civil War in Cabell County, West Virginia, 1861-1865" (1991) and "Holding the Line: The Battle of Allegheny Mountain and Confederate Defense of the Staunton-Parkersburg Turnpike 1861-1862" (2012).

Art professor's exhibit
HUNTINGTON, W.Va. -- "On Desire," an exhibition of artwork by Kate Shannon, is on display through Sept. 7 at Gallery 842.
Shannon is an assistant professor of art at Ohio State University's Mansfield, Ohio, campus, where she teaches new media courses. She has exhibited her work nationally, most recently at the Marin Museum of Contemporary Art in the San Francisco Bay Area, the Woman Made Gallery in Chicago and Texas Woman's University.
The exhibit features digital animations and digitally manipulated photographs from several bodies of work, all relating to the concept of desire. In one such series, "Construction/Destruction," the artist draws inspiration from a collection of glass plate negatives taken by Orville and Wilbur Wright to document their airplane experiments in Kitty Hawk, N.C., between 1898 and 1911.

CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin presented $623,495 in development grant funds on July 26 for 12 projects involving the restoration, rehabilitation or archaeological development of historic sites listed in the National Register of Historic Places at the Culture Center. The grants went to:
