CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- The following establishments will host guests at the August ArtWalk from 5 to 8 p.m. Aug. 16. Charleston Area Alliance sponsors ArtWalk.
The Greater Kanawha Valley Foundation will feature four artists in August: Deborah Herndon, photographer; Amy Brown, handbag designer; Faye Johnson, jewelry designer; and Jennifer Bloomfield, photographer.

Art Emporium will be showcasing works from the Charleston branch of the National League of American Pen Women.
Founded in 1887, the organization's members are creative women at professional levels in visual art, published literary works and music with 5,000 national members. The show will feature works by Sonja Adkins, Rosalie Atkins, Kathy Boland, Carolyn Cavendish, Connie Cullum, Lou Riffle Gates, Mary Anne Hodson, Kathleen Kimble, Pat Miller, Pat Roberts, Emily Roles, Linda Charles Stone and Betty Warner.
Works will be on display through Sept. 15.

Awyn Danielle McQueen-Milam is the featured artist for August at Gallery Eleven. Her exhibit is titled "Georgia's Impatiens" and is a tribute to Georgia O'Keeffe, whose art greatly influenced Danielle's early art path.

White Oak Photography will showcase a collection of photography featuring signs. There will be some new additions to the permanent collection as well. The gallery is at 107 Hale St., Suite 100; hours by appointment. Visit www.kdlett.com.
The Charleston Ballet will be showing the Emmy Award-winning film about dance photographer Steven Caras, along with a viewing of Charleston Ballet dancers preparing for upcoming performances.
Directed by Deborah Novak, a student at the Charleston Ballet, the documentary features Steven Caras' story, giving viewers an intimate look at the ballet world.
The film presents rare, behind-the-scenes photographs of ballet superstars such as Mikhail Baryshnikov, Suzanne Farrell and Natalia Makarova.
In addition to its Emmy, the documentary also received the grand prize at the 45th annual WorldFest Houston International Film Festival.
The Capitol Clay Arts Co. will be showcasing their art in the lobby.

Deborah Davis, a Charleston jewelry designer who creates necklaces and earrings using organic stones such as turquoise, coral and various quartz stones and crystals, as well as manmade materials such as acrylic, Lucite and wire, will show her recent collection at the House of Luxe, 817 Quarrier St.; 304-346-0577.
The accounting firm Woomer Nistendirk & Associates will feature the work of artists Dawn Combs and John Maurer. Combs, of Charleston, has work ranging from photos of monarch butterflies to paintings of Canaan Valley. Maurer, of St. Petersburg, Fla., and Bristol, Conn., exhibits in juried art festivals across the United States. His oil and acrylic paintings are scenes from places where he has traveled, primarily Europe.

Visions of Summer
CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- The Art Store is showing new and recent works, "Visions of Summer," through Aug. 27.

Watercolor classes
BECKLEY, W.Va. -- Skip Lawrence will host a watercolor workshop from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 3-7 at the Cynthia Bickey Art Gallery.

Black heritage museum
ANSTED, W.Va. -- The African American Heritage Family Tree Museum is now open on Logtown Road. The small history museum is in its 21st year and has exhibits relating to American black history.
Museum hours are 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday and Friday, or by appointment, through Sept. 3. Admission is $2.

Renaissance Art Gallery
HUNTINGTON, W.Va. -- Artist Susan Tschantz has added a large landscape painting to her works on display at Renaissance Art Gallery. It is a 36- by 48-inch landscape based on the Green Bottom Wildlife Preserve along the Ohio River.
The Green Bottom painting will be joined by other paintings, drawings and photographs showing life along the rivers and creeks of the upper Ohio and West Virginia.
