The Appalachian Children's Chorus will hold auditions at 3 p.m. Sunday at the University of Charleston's Keenan Hall. Girls and boys (with unchanged voices) are encouraged to audition.
Participants are not required to have a prepared song selection, although they may do so if they wish. No previous singing experience is necessary.
There is a significant annual fee for participation. Partial financial aid is offered for qualifying students, with applications for that due by Aug. 31.
'Hello, Dolly!' auditions
The Charleston Light Opera Guild will hold auditions for "Hello, Dolly" at 7 p.m. Tuesday through Aug. 30 at its theater, 411 Tennessee Ave.
Tuesday's auditions are for singing, and participants should bring a prepared vocal selection and sheet music for the accompanist. Wednesday is reading and acting auditions, with scripts provided. (Those auditioning for the ensemble don't need to attend.) Aug. 30 is the dance audition, and participants should be dressed to dance, including jazz, ballet and dance heels for women.
