Black Walnut Festival

Huntington haunted house

The House of Morbid Minds is open nightly through Halloween at 1500 Monroe Ave. (behind Big Lots) in Huntington. Hours are 8 p.m. to midnight Friday and Saturday and 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. Sunday through Thursday. Admission is $10. Call 304-638-6078 or find them on Facebook.

Marshall film festival

The Marshall Artists Series Fall International Film Festival runs Friday through Wednesday at the Keith Albee Theater. Films are "A Separation" (Iran), "The Kid with a Bike" (Belgium), "Applause" (Denmark), "Beasts of the Southern Wild" (USA), "Footnote" (Israel) and "Headhunters" (Norway).

It kicks off with a screening of the documentary "Skateistan," about skateboard culture in Afghanistan, at 7 p.m. Thursday. The $10 event features a Q&A with Huntington native Bryan Ridgeway, who is a "Global Skateboarding Adviser" for the Skateistan charity.

Daughtry and 3 Doors Down

Tsubasacon

The eighth annual Tsubasacon, West Virginia's only anime convention, runs Friday through Sunday at the Riverfront Ballroom and Conference Center, adjacent to the Big Sandy Superstore Arena in Huntington. Activities include cosplay, an anime music video contest, vendors, panels and more. Guest speakers include voice actors Patrick Seitz and Lauren Landa, musical act The Extraordinary Contraptions, artist Dirk I. Tiede and "Greggo," who brings his anime game show.

Admission is $25 Friday, $35 Saturday and $15 Sunday or $40 for a weekend pass. Children 7 and under are admitted free with paid admission. Visit www.tsubasacon.org.

Fall festival

The free Morgan's Kitchen Fall Festival, sponsored by the St. Albans Historical Society, runs 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the historic cabin, located along MacCorkle Avenue. 'Miracle on 34th Street' auditions

The Alban Theater will hold auditions for "Miracle on 34th Street" 1-3 p.m. Saturday and 2-4 p.m. Sunday at the theater, 65 Olde Main St., St. Albans. Parts are available for three men, two women, one girl, 14 men or women and many extras, including children.

Auditioners are encouraged to bring a prepared monologue (90 seconds or less), but reading selections will be available. Show dates are Dec. 7-9 and 14-16. Call 304-721-8896 or visit www.albanartscenter.com.

OktoberWest

Charleston West Side Main Street will host OktoberWest from 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday on Bigley Avenue behind Kelley's Men's Shop. With an outdoor "bier garten" atmosphere, the fundraiser features music by The Carpenter Ants, traditional German food by The Grill and craft beers by Parkersburg's North End Tavern and Thomas' Mountain State Brewing.
