Henry Isaacs to open

CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- An opening reception honoring internationally recognized artist Henry Isaacs will take place from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Oct. 27 at The Art Store. This exhibition will feature works painted en plein air throughout West Virginia and its borderlands and continues through Nov. 23.

In this body of work, Isaacs tackles the challenge of painting from life by absorbing the sensory experience of sight, sound and atmosphere and translating those feelings onto canvas in layers of quick, broad, colorful brushstrokes distinctive of the Impressionist style.

Isaacs has received numerous awards and grants from organizations including the Massachusetts Council on the Arts and Humanities, the Boston Globe Foundation, the Hitachi Foundation and the Pollack Krasner Foundation grant. The late Lee Krasner, a leading abstract impressionist painter and the widow of Jackson Pollack, created the Pollack-Krasner Foundation in 1985.

Isaacs' work is found in collections that include the Fogg Museum of Art at Harvard University, Indianapolis Museum of Art; Philadelphia Museum of Art; U.S. Department of Art and Technology museum; and the Rhode Island School of Design.
