Family movies

CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- After Christmas, three days of children's activities and family movies will be showing at the Culture Center.

Movies will be shown Dec. 26-28 in the theater. Each day will feature a different film and they will be shown twice, at noon and 3 p.m. Children's activities relating to the arts, historic preservation and the West Virginia State Museum also will take place each day in the Great Hall from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. All events are free.

On Dec. 26, the featured film will be "Arthur Christmas" (2011, 97 minutes, rated PG). The 3D, animated feature film reveals how Santa Claus delivers all his presents in one night.

On Dec. 27, the Walt Disney/Pixar animated movie "Brave" (2012, 100 minutes, rated PG) about Merida, the skilled archer and impetuous daughter of royalty who has to undo a deadly curse.

On Dec. 28, "Secret of the Wings" (2012, 92 minutes, rated G) will be screened. The computer-animated film by Disney tells the tale of Tinker Bell's adventures into an unknown world.

Visitors also can tour the State Museum and view the many exhibits on display in the Culture Center.

The Culture Center is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday, noon to 5 p.m. Sunday. The State Museum is closed on Monday except for the first Monday of the month, and the State Archive is closed on Sunday. The building will close at noon on Christmas Eve and reopen on Dec. 26.
