Charleston Gold Dome Lions Club will feature a visit from Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus from 8 to 11 a.m. Saturday at Shoney's on the Boulevard. Children of all ages are welcome to talk with Santa. Parents can take free pictures with their own cameras. Donations may be made to benefit Lions' projects and charities.
Kanawha Trail Club will sponsor a new hike to Chief Logan Festival of Lights on Sunday. Carpool at 1:30 p.m. from Ohio and Randolph streets. Regroup at the museum parking lot. The hike is about 4 miles on Woodpecker/Rattlesnake/Fitness trails past the lighted Christmas displays.
Met Opera's performance of Aida by Verdi will be presented live in high-definition from 12:55 to 4:50 p.m. at the Cinemark in Huntington Mall in Barboursville and at Great Escape in Nitro. Sissonville Volunteer Fire Department will sponsor a Photo Fund Drive-Christmas Shoot from noon to 6 p.m. at the new Sissonville Fire Station on Call Road. Proceeds will be used to purchase firefighting and rescue equipment. A complimentary 10-by-13 family portrait will be given with a $20 donation. Appointments are not necessary, walk-ins are welcome.
