TALCOTT, W.Va. -- Talcott will have its annual John Henry Days featuring concerts, entertainment, food, fireworks and more July 12 to 14.
Live music includes Taylor Made on July 12 and the Davisson Brothers Band on July 13. Entertainment is free, but donations are accepted. Bring a lawn chair.
Other highlights on July 13 include breakfast at Trinity Methodist Church basement, a 4-Mile Run beginning at 8 a.m. at Talcott Bridge, craft and food vendors throughout Talcott, a Grand Parade at 11 a.m., children's activities and lunch available at the Talcott Fire Department. Traditional African Drumming will be performed by Greenbrier Academy for Girls. Nick Souter and Jim Costa will be performing music and storytelling from 1 to 3 p.m. Hear the story of John Henry Fiction vs. Fact by Bill Dillon at 3 p.m. under the trees by the fire department. A fireworks display will be held at 10 p.m., following the band.
Events on July 14 includes a 9:30 a.m. church service and music at the Great Bend Tunnel. Music will be presented by David Thompson of Marie. Bring a lawn chair. In case of rain, church service will be held at Trinity Methodist Church. Crafts, lunch, a car show from noon to 4 p.m. and music by the Academy Band will also be featured. The Rubber Duck Race will be held at 4 p.m. at the Talcott Bridge boat launch. Tickets for the Rubber Duck Race are available at the John Henry and other locations.
