CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- The Charleston Metro Band will serve up a free concert at 5 p.m. Saturday at Haddad Riverfront Park to welcome to Charleston the LST 325, a World War II era museum ship. The LST 325, which took part in the invasion of Normandy, will visit Charleston Friday through Tuesday.
The concert program includes Navy pieces such as "Navy Blue and Gold" and "Anchors Aweigh," World War II era songs including "I've Got Rhythm" and "A String of Pearls" and military marches including "Semper Fidelis." For more information, contact director Dick Stockton at 304-343-9188.
During its stay, LST 325 is open for public tours from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is $10 for adults, $5 for youth ages 5 to 17 and free for children under 5. Family passes are $20. See Rusty Marks' storyon the ship here.
