CHARLESTON, W.Va. --The city of Weirton gets another chance to celebrate its celluloid fame: It's hosting a special screening and the debut of a featurette to mark the Blu-Ray release of "Super 8."
The film was shot in Weirton, and many West Virginians worked on the crew or as extras.
Film Office director Pam Haynes says the Blu-ray disc version is being released Nov. 22, but the screening in Weirton is Nov. 21 at the Krazy Bout Sportz complex.
Paramount Pictures granted permission to show the film and an 18-minute featurette,, "Rediscovering Steel Town."
Admission is one non-perishable food item per person. The Elks Lodge will gather the food and donate it to the Weirton Community Bread Basket.
The venue can only accommodate 500 people, so admission is first-come, first seated.
