'The Color Purple'
A national touring production of the Broadway musical "The Color Purple" comes to the WVU Creative Arts Center in Morgantown at 7:30 p.m. Monday. UC WorldFest
The University of Charleston's seventh annual WorldFest begins Wednesday with an International Expo from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the ballroom of the Geary Student Union. The expo celebrates the cultures of the school's international students with informational booths, food samples and more.
WorldFest concludes on Thursday, Feb. 23, with the Global Sensations dinner and show at 6 p.m. in the same location. That event features cultural cuisines from several countries and a showcase of worldwide traditions in the form of songs, dances and fashion.

Benefit for the troops
The St. Albans Moose Lodge, 7101 MacCorkle Ave., will hold Karaoke for the Troops from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday.
Admission is by donation of items for care packages to send to troops overseas or a monetary donation to help cover postage for the packages. Live music will be provided by Corba Dunlap.

The Kanawha Players closes its farce "Lend Me a Tenor" with performances at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday at the Kanawha Players Theater, 309 Beauregard St. Describing the show, Gazette reviewer Zac Taylor wrote, "Doors open and slam shut, people chase each other around furniture, a spicy Italian caricature has an extra-marital affair and a guy pretending to be a spicy Italian caricature has an affair with his own girlfriend." Eco-bead workshop

Hawks Nest documentary event
On Sunday, award-winning filmmakers Mari-Lynn Evans and Phylis Geller will premiere the trailer for their PBS documentary, "Hawks Nest: Blood Beneath Our Feet," at the Culture Center. The film examines the Hawks Nest Tunnel disaster, which is one of the worst industrial disasters in American history.
The free event runs 3 to 5 p.m. and also includes guest speakers Dr. Wilburn Hayden, who will deliver the keynote speech, the Rev. Ron English, the Rev. Matthew Watts, Pastor Paul Dunn, West Virginia AFL-CIO President Kenny Perdue, Keeper of the Mountains Foundation founder Larry Gibson and Dave Saville of the West Virginia Highlands Conservancy.

Montclaire String Quartet
