On Jan. 30, Regal Nitro Stadium 12 will broadcast the special film event, "One Night Stand: Creating a Play in a Day," which follows New York talents as they are given 24 hours to take a short musical from concept to stage. The filmmakers will screen a preview of the first episode of their Web series/feature film, "The Crawling Dead," as well as their last film, "Porkchop 3D." Pepper Fandango and Dinosaur Burps will provide music.

Sesquicentennial exhibit opening

The West Virginia State Museum will commemorate the state's 150th birthday with a special sesquicentennial exhibit that opens with a 6 p.m. reception Jan. 31 at the Culture Center. "West Virginia 150" focuses on 150 people, places and events that helped to shape the lives of West Virginians over the past 150 years.

Visitors can add their own suggestions to a book placed at the end of the exhibit. A special online exhibit featuring these recommendations will open later this year.

FestivALL art fair

Applications are now being accepted for the 2013 Festiv-ALL Capitol Street Art Fair, to be held June 29-30. The juried fair is dedicated to fine arts and fine craft. The early deadline, with reduced fees, is Feb. 1. The final deadline is March 1.

Symphony movie music voting

On Feb. 8-9, the West Virginia Symphony will present its pops concert "And the Winner Is . . . Music of the Movies" at the Clay Center. The selections will be voted on by fans before the concert and then presented like a movie awards show.

Film categories are action, drama, romance, fantasy, horror, Western, adventure, animated film, comedy, science fiction and sports film. There are three nominees per category.
