CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Fearless? You got that right.

Country superstar Taylor Swift wowed a sold-out crowd last Saturday night at the Charleston Civic Center. With her stunning voice and songs she writes herself, it isn't hard to see why West Virginia fans openly welcomed her. And not only is she country's sweetheart, but on Saturday, she also proved that she knows how to rock.

Her opening acts were the upcoming band, Gloriana, and former "American Idol" contestant, Kellie Pickler. I was impressed as they warmed up the crowd for Swift. Who knew that they could sing better than what you hear from others on the radio?

First up was Gloriana. Singing their hits, "Wild at Heart" and "The Way It Goes," it was hard to believe that they're still newcomers to country music. Kellie Pickler also pumped up the already hyper crowd by singing songs from her latest album as well as her very first single, "Red High Heels."

As Pickler made her way off stage, Taylor Swift came up through the stage in a band uniform, singing her latest hit, "You Belong with Me." From then on, she had the audience on their feet cheering her on.

As the concert progressed, you could feel yourself being sucked in and hanging on to every word she said. I also liked how she made this concert experience different than any one I've ever been to. It was like nothing I've ever seen.

Costume changes and different scenery made the show unforgettable. Whether she was changing into a princess for "Love Story" or singing with a rain falling down on her for "Should've Said No," she and the show were never boring.

Videos of interviews with her about writing songs about boys and guitar solos from Grant Mickelson and bassist Amos Heller took up the space between each time Swift would make a quick stage exit. She also took time during the concert to sign autographs and give away bracelets as she sang while she walked among the audience. She made the crowd feel as if they were long lost friends.

For the two hours of her Fearless concert, Taylor Swift showed how much she deserves to be where she is in her career. With a killer voice and songs based on personal experiences, she makes you feel a connection with her.

And if the confetti blaster or her banging on the drums with a band member weren't enough entertainment for fans, then I don't know what would be.
