CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Country music and variety shows from West Virginia and Virginia will get some national exposure starting in two weeks.

Starting Jan. 1, the cable network RFD TV will begin airing 30-minute shows from American Mountain Theater in Elkins and the Virginia Dreams Center Stage of Harrisonburg, Va.

RFD reaches more than 41 million U.S. households and claims more than 13 million weekly adult viewers. Most programming focuses on rural life.

American Mountain Theater stages more than 200 country music shows a year in a 527-seat, $1.8 million theater in the historic Elkins rail yard.

Virginia Dreams Center Stage features Nashville singers and the show's regular cast of Virginia performers. The show is hosted by Tim Spears and Lisa Meadows.
